Many Virginia drivers choose the Ford F-150 over other vehicles because it is so highly capable both on and off the road. You can take the F-150 off-road with ease, load up the truck bed with cargo, or haul a trailer, even combining some of these things. Even though your F-150 is highly capable and ready for off-road adventures, that doesn’t mean you are, as well. In addition to ensuring your F-150 is in good shape and ready to tackle any obstacle before you hit the trail, you should make sure you have the following items with you.
A Toolkit
You never know what minor repairs or adjustments you will need to make to your Ford F-150 when you are on an off-road adventure. A toolkit will ensure you are prepared for anything. The more the merrier in your toolkit. However, you should at least have a socket set, pliers, extender bars, screwdrivers, a hammer, Vise-Grips, and a breaker bar.
First Aid Kit
In addition to a kit dedicated to repairing your Ford, you need one to help you out if you get injured, as well. A basic first aid kit should be enough. You can even buy one already made directly from your Ford dealership or at a local pharmacy. You never know when you will run into an issue off-roading, and you want to be prepared. If you can, throw a thermal blanket in, as well.
Satellite Phone
Depending on where you are taking your F-150, you may not have cell phone service. With a satellite phone, you will always have a connection, no matter where you are. Thanks to the reliable connection, you can always call for help, for yourself or others, if it becomes necessary.
F-150 Tow Strap
Having a tow strap or similar item you can use for this purpose is crucial when off-roading in your Ford F-150. Hopefully, you won’t ever need it, but it can help you get out of a sticky situation. You may even find someone else during your adventure that will be thankful for your powerful F-150 and tow strap to get him or her out of a tight spot.
F-150 Traction Mats
Even a vehicle as capable as the Ford F-150 can’t always get out of the deepest mud or dirt. With the help of traction mats, you should have no issue driving out with just the power of your F-150.
