Folks in and around Bedford County are eagerly anticipating the opening of the Forest Farmer’s Winter Market. This popular collection of Virginia-grown produce and local artisans’ crafts is the cold-weather version of the ever-popular outdoor Forest Farmer’s Market. The much-awaited open days for the winter market are January 14, 2017 – April 8th 2017 from 8:00 am until noon. There is also a special “Holiday Market” being held on December 10th, 2016 from 8:00 am until noon.
A Winner for Yourself and the Community
You can support your community through shopping at the Forest Farmer’s Markets throughout the year, keeping your money in the local economy. At the same time, you’ll gather up some wonderful Bedford County products. There is a surprising selection of goods at the markets. You’ll find everything from honey (and honey-laced lotions) to garlic/habanero jellies, soapstone carvings, and BBQ.
An Almost Endless Variety to Enjoy
I’ve named just a few of the goodies available for purchase, but if you’re not in the buying mood, the market remains a great place to take a stroll. You’ll find items of interest to check out as you visit the various vendors. You might stop to look at some finely crafted wooden bowls and jewelry boxes, only to be drawn to the next booth by the aroma of warm, scratch-made sourdough bread.
The Bedford County area is fortunate to be home to such a great collection of farmers and artisans. Since there isn’t room here to list all the offerings, you’ll just have to visit and see for yourself. Remember, Forest Farmer’s Winter Market will be open November 19 and December 10 at the Forest Recreation Center at 1088 Rustic Village Rd., Forest, VA 24551.
