Roanoke Harry Potter Festival: Magical Activities
The event planners and volunteers behind Roanoke’s upcoming Harry Potter Festival have planned to transform downtown Roanoke and close down traffic for thousands of witches, wizards, and muggles to roam around. Some of the activities include quidditch demonstrations, a beer garden with magic-themed drinks, a dinner at the Great Hall and a cocktail party later in the evening. There will be alcoholic beer and non-alcoholic butterbeer for all ages to enjoy.

Roanoke Harry Potter Festival: History 
The Roanoke Harry Potter Festival all began with a blog post from “The Roanoke Times” website. It was about the Harry Potter festival that was organized in downtown Staunton back in August 2016. After that blog post, the Medieval Fantasies Company from Churchville (the founder of Hogwarts and the festival) got hold of the blogger and said they’d be happy to talk about bringing the festival to Roanoke. She said she wasn’t qualified to put an event together and urged the locals of Roanoke to come up with some ideas. She soon got a lot of local interest and volunteers in and around Roanoke made it happen. May 13th, 2017, will be Roanoke’s first Harry Potter festival – and hopefully not it’s last.
Roanoke Harry Potter Festival: Event Details
Organizers of the event have stated that they have given their maximum amount of free tickets away – 9,000. Tickets are only for sale at $5.00. Due to the overwhelming positive interest of the End of Term Feast, the event organizers will be hosting two additional feasts. These feasts will be on Friday, May 12th – the night before the festival. The tickets are on sale now and are $20.00 each. Additional VIP tickets are on sale as well.
