This October, take your Ford around the Salem area to enjoy the best fall festivals Virginia has to offer. Whether you want a scary Halloween event or something that is fun and exciting for the whole family, you should be able to find plenty of options.
Richmond Folk Festival
Since Richmond is only about three hours away from Salem, it is reasonable to drive there for a weekend or just two days. Their Richmond Folk Festival lasts from Oct. 7 to 9 and features over 30 different groups performing on seven live stages. The entire time, there are dance performances and music. You will also find a folk art marketplace, a range of ethnic and regional foods, children’s activities, and demonstrations. Best of all, there is no admission fee.
Graves’ Mountain Apple Harvest Festival
Syria is a similar drive from Salem and home of the Graves’ Mountain Lodge. It hosts the Apple Harvest Festival for the first few weekends in October. You can go on the first three weekends on both Saturday and Sunday. The festival goes on from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. This means you can attend on the 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 15th, or 16th.
Blue Ridge Folklife Festival
The closest option for a fall festival is the Blue Ridge Folklife Festival at Ferrum College. This festival takes place on Saturday, Oct. 22, and is well worth the trip. There are two dozen country foods, three music stages, vintage farm tractors, custom cars, coon dog contests, over 50 craftspeople selling their wares, and even old-time children’s games. You will find all types of music styles and even artisan demonstrations.
The team at Berglund Ford of Salem can’t go with you to these festivals, but we can help you find the perfect vehicle to take you from Salem, Virginia, to your favorite local event.
